Dot Matrix Printer

Dot matrix printers are a low resolution printer and also called impact matrix printers. In the dot matrix printers, having a set of 9 pins and 24 pins which strikes the color soaked ribbon to the paper for printing the text. In the dot matrix printer the printing head is moved back and forth or in an up and down movement

Daisy Wheel Printer

Daisy wheel printer was invented by Dr. Andrew Gabor in 1970 at Diable data system. The Daisy wheel is named for its resemblance to the Daisy flower. In the 1980 Daisy wheel printers had the dominant technology for the quality text printing.

Line Printer 


 They print a line of text, the full width of the page, rather than using a print head that moves back and forth. They've largely been replaced by high-speed laser printers but remain useful in some business applications because of their low cost and ability to print multi-part carbonless forms.

Drum Printer

The drum printer is obsolete in the present day. It is an old effective technology which prints the text at speed of 300 to 2000 lines per minute. In the present time drum printers are replaced by laser printers.

Chain Printer

Chain printer is one of the first computer printers. It was developed in mid 1950. Chain printer is also called ‘Train Printer’ because it replaces the Train printer with higher speed.

Band Printer

The band printer is an impact type of printer which contains a metal band with character shapes imprinted on it. Band printer can print  up to approximately 2000 lines per minute
